Odell Conner Temple

A memorial service honoring the life of Odell Conner Temple, 72, of Burke will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Burke United Methodist Church with Pam Burnette officiating.

Odell was born on January 9, 1946 to Sam and Pauline Conner the 6th of seven children…George Henry, Laura Lee, Betty Jean, Lou Evelyn, Irene and Gary Paul.

Odell was known for her awesome cooking and could master almost any recipe. She was accustomed to raves and genuine praise for her wonderful cooking, but would often just humbly say, “Her mama or sister, Lou, was the best cooks.” Though frail and weak from chemotherapy, she absolutely refused to be denied making her traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners this past year and heavy hearts marveled at her strength and determination. She was also blessed with a green thumb and had beautiful bountiful gardens and generously shared her garden’s bounty with friends, neighbors, and family. Flowers, trees and plants of every kind dotted her yard and she could tell you the name of each one.

Odell was a graduate of The Houston Electrolysis Institute and owned her own business Temple Electrolysis in Lufkin since 1986. Even after deciding to work part time, she opened her home to her loyal clients who didn’t want to have to find a new electrologist and operated her business from her home office.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; granddaughter, Jennifer Jackson; and son-in-law, Earl Jackson.

Survivors are son, John John Temple and wife Pam; daughter, Monica Jackson; sister-in-law, Bevla Conner; grandchildren, Jade Temple, Johnathan Temple, April Jackson, Gracie Buchanan, and Parker Buchanan; 5 great grandchildren;  numerous cousins; nephews and nieces; and special friend, Edwinna Segrest.
