William H. "Booger' Redd, Sr.
Funeral services for William H. ‘Booger’ Redd, Sr., 94, of Huntington will be held at the Homer United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 with Pastor Carl Lundberg officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites under the auspices of Homer Masonic Lodge #254 AF & AM will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Redd was born June 20, 1923 in Zavalla to the late Mary (Thigpen) and Roy Redd and died December 20, 2017 in Nacogdoches. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from Lufkin Industries after 24 years and from Coca Cola after 17 years. He was a 50 year mason and past master of the Homer Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Helen (Townsend) Redd; sons, William ‘Bill” Redd, Jr. and Alan Redd; daughters, Betsy and Preston Smith and Karen (Redd) Hopson and fiancé Ricky Mullins; sisters, Louise Rogers and Mary Lois Mathews; brother, Ricky Redd; grandchildren, Nanette and Todd Moss, Casey and Sarah Smith, Heather Hopson, Christopher Redd, Shannon and Joe Cummins, Meagan Shumaker, and Samantha Hayes; 9 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Redd; and grandson, Heath Hopson.
Pallbearers will be Masons of Homer Masonic Lodge #254. Honorary pallbearers will be Kippy Hopson, Tim Johnson, Bobby Hawkins, Kenneth Burnett and George Conner.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
